Expert Field Medical Badge

Criteria: Awarded to medical personnel of the United States Army successfully completing a set of qualification tests including both written and performance elements. This badge is the non-combat equivalent of the Combat Medical Badge. Army regulations, however, prohibit wearing both the Expert Field Medical Badge and the Combat Medical Badge simultaneously. In such cases, the Combat Medical Badge has precedence according to Army Regulation 670-1. Current requirements include successful negotiations of a 100-question written test with a 75 percent score, the Army Physical Fitness Test, day and night land navigation courses, weapons qualifications, a four-man litter obstacle course, a 12-mile forced road march, lane testing, communications/field radio and MEDEVAC request testing, chemical environment survival, emergency medical treatments, sick and wounded evacuations, and single-person cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The Expert Field Medical Badge is a United States Army decoration first created in 1965. The infantry equivalent of the Expert Field Medical Badge is the Expert Infantryman Badge. The badge is also is authorized for wear by U.S. Air Force medical personnel meeting the same requirements.
