Germany Bar

Criteria: The Germany Bar was presented to recipients of the World War II Army of Occupation Medal, World War II Navy Occupation Medal, and World War II Marine Corps Occupation Medal for European-area service after the war. Service personnel serving in the Asiatic theater of operations, alternatively, were awarded the medal with the “Japan Bar” – denoting service in their separate geographical area after the war. The Germany Bar was given with the Occupation Medal, specifically, for the following areas and dates of service: Germany (May 9, 1945 to May 5, 1955); Austria (May 9, 1945 to July 7, 1955); Italy (May 9, 1945 to September 15, 1947), and; West Berlin (May 9, 1945 to October 3, 1990). The bar attaches to the ribbon section of the medal.
